Prof. Marcelo Pinho Almeida, SWC 2025 Congress Chair
The Solar World Congress (SWC), held biennially by the International Solar Energy Society (ISES), brings together the global solar and renewable energy community in a constructive and inspiring environment where researchers, students, stakeholders, business professionals, and enthusiasts can share their experiences, researches, ideas, and knowledge. The regional diversity, which only a congress with international outreach can achieve, creates the perfect setting for discussing today’s challenges and tomorrow’s solutions in the pursuit of a sustainable and renewable future for all.
For the first time, the SWC is being hosted in Brazil, a country ready to welcome you with its natural beauty and warm hospitality. Brazil has been an active voice in the global fight for energy justice and against climate change, with a long-standing history in renewable energy and a strong commitment to energy transition and sustainability. The country ranks among the world’s largest producers of biofuels, as well as solar, wind, and hydroelectric power. Fortaleza, the host city of SWC 2025, is not only a national hub for culture, gastronomy, and tourism but also a thriving center for technology and renewable energy investments, and it awaits your arrival with open arms.
The Brazilian Solar Energy Association (ABENS), the oldest organization in the country dedicated to solar and renewable energy, has been the Brazilian Section of ISES since 2011. With years of experience coordinating its own congresses, ABENS is meticulously organizing the SWC 2025 as the local host to ensure the best possible experience for you.
During the SWC 2025, you will have numerous opportunities to learn and share knowledge on the latest developments and applications in solar energy, other renewable sources, and associated technologies such as storage, green hydrogen, and electric mobility. The scientific content of the congress is divided into ten key topics: solar resource assessment and meteorology; solar thermal power; solar heating and cooling; PV cell technology; PV systems and applications; microgrids; architecture, urban planning, and solar energy; beyond solar: other renewables and associated applications; and market, economy, policies, environment, and social aspects The official website offers detailed information on how to submit an abstract or proposal to present your work, either through an oral or poster presentation, and later to publish your research in the Congress Proceedings. If selected as one of the best papers, it will also be considered for publication in the ISES Journal Solar Energy Advances.
At SWC 2025, you will have the opportunity to network with old and new colleagues and friends during social events and technical tours; hear from renowned speakers on cutting-edge developments in technology, policies, financing, and social issues during plenary and keynote sessions; and participate in a variety of interactive activities, such as workshops, theme-focused meetings, and the Solar Speed Dating, among others.
Strategically scheduled at the beginning of November, SWC 2025 will precede COP30, which will take place in the “nearby” city of Belém in the following weeks. As both events address similar themes, you will have the chance to learn about and discuss some of COP30's key topics with an international group of experts at SWC 2025, whether or not you are planning to attend COP30 in Belém.
We look forward to welcoming you to Fortaleza, Brazil, from November 4 to 7 for SWC 2025. Together, we can shape the future of solar energy and create a 100% renewable and sustainable world.
Sincerely,
Prof. Marcelo Pinho Almeida.
